Super Visa

Super Visa is a visit visa that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian residents and permanent residents to reside in Canada for up to 5 years, with a possibility of a 2-year extension upon the expiry of the initial validity period.

Benefits: This provision allows for parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for up to 5 years at a stretch without having to renew their status as against the regular 6-month duration of a visitor visa.
Validity: The super visa is multi-entry and can be issued for a period of ten years.

Am I eligible to sponsor a Super Visa?

To be eligible to sponsor your parents or grandparents under the Super Visa category:

Eligibility: You need to be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

DocumentsA written commitment of financial support towards the applicants, a letter of invitation, details of your living arrangements and the plan to support your family during their stay in Canada.

Proof of Funds: You will need to establish that you meet the minimum income threshold according to the low-income cut-off (LICO) which varies as per the size of your family household.

What do my parents or grandparents need to provide?

All applicants of the Super Visa category have some mandatory requirements along with other assessment factors.

Medical (Mandatory): All applicants need to undergo a medical examination and purchase Canadian medical insurance providing a minimum coverage of $100,000 for health care, hospitalisation and repatriation for at least one year from the date of entry.

Admissibility: The Parent or grandparent must be admissible to Canada. Your PGP’s intent to visit Canada, ties to home country, and the overall economic and political stability of home country are some of the factors that will be assessed to determine the visa approval
